Well I sure picked a bad weekend to come down with a nasty head cold that’s been making my life miserable. Tonight at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas for 30 bucks you can see perhaps Las Vegas’ best local band (Rusty Maples) open up for one of the most sonically adventurous bands in recent years (Explosions in the Sky). It’s sure to be an incredible experience and I would highly recommend the concert for music fans. I hate to pass on this show but such is life. Tickets are for sale here.

For followers of this blog you can catch some photos of Rusty Maples’ show earlier this year on my instagram feed along with other cool events and concerts here in Las Vegas. I’m particularly bummed to miss this concert because Explosions in the Sky has been my go-to band I listen to at work for years. Other journalists like to throw around words like “atmospheric” and “cerebral” to describe them, and they’d be correct. Recently I took a drive back to Vegas through the Mojave desert on I-15 listening to them and it was an incredible experience. If you haven’t checked out either Rusty Maples or Explosions in the Sky (spoiler alert: their music has no words) both bands definitely get a big seal of approval from me. So enjoy and if anyone out there catches the show feel free to share some photos!
