With Christmas approaching this weekend many of us will have some down time away from work, and once the eggnog is done, the presents opened, and you’ve watched Die Hard for the 100th time and want to get out of the house, here’s a list of great local events going on. Check them out!
-Tonight at the Bunkhouse Saloon from 9-midnight, join “all-star team” of over 50 local artists, musicians, actors, technicians and performers to help celebrate “A Very Merry Same Sex Mary Christmas Spectacular” with live music from great local band Same Sex Mary. This should be a great night of music and fellowship, and it also helps charity Three Square provide meals to seniors, families, and children in need. Three Square will be on location and matching every $1 donated! Also, FREE COOKIES courtesy of The Homestead at Boulder City. Tickets are $10, 21+ doors at 9pm.
-Speaking of Boulder City, if you’re in the area tonight stop by The Dillinger to catch one of Las Vegas’ best singer-songwriters Michael Louis Austin perform. Fans of this blog and the local music scene should be familiar with Austin’s excellent work, both from his chops as the guitarist for The All-Togethers as well as his solo work, much of which was on display at the now sadly defunct Vegas on the Mic series a few years back. (If you want to spread Christmas cheer, listen to this track then share until this incredible music goes viral!). Michael starts performing at 8:30pm, the show is free and all ages and The Dillinger has great food and drinks.
-If you’re looking for something that the kiddos can enjoy, try the Glittering Lights at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where the entire speedway is converted into a Winter Wonderland full of Christmas lights. The display is designed so that families can stay in the car (and stay warm), so the whole family can just hop in the car and enjoy Christmas lights and hot cocoa.
I hope everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas weekend!
